The vision for Drop is to engage and educate SF Residents through the use of mobile technologies PRIOR to an emergency.

The City of San Francisco designated 67 Emergency Drinking Water Fire Hydrants throughout the city with a blue water drop in 2006.  Although this program is still underway and under review by the SFPUC the message is still the same: Store your own supply of water AND know the location of backup resources. With that in mind, we converted the SFPUC's pdf map of all 67 hydrant locations to a dynamic web and mobile application.  Where is the one in your neighborhood, school, or place of work?  Hydrant Map

By exporting our data to foursquare we are directly influencing millions of users to discover a nearby Emergency  Drinking Water Hydrant.  This feature allows citizens to  become the Mayor of their local hydrants as a micro step towards preparedness.
